Sorrento Writers Festival

What a festival! What an amazing four-and-a-half days!

What just happened?

Last weekend – April 24-27 – the Sorrento Writers Festival hosted more 220 speakers across 169 events. We activated 10 local venues and we sold an extraordinary 22,743 tickets.

Our township buzzed and hummed. And, although we are still working out actual numbers, we reckon around 7-8000 people were in and around Sorrento, visiting shops, buying coffee and drinks, eating in our cafes and restaurants, stopping by galleries and visiting our local tourism sites.

Thank you to our audiences who bought tickets and supported our guest speakers. Our festival goers created the energy which inspires the writers and commentators  to discuss their work and their writing practice.

Thank you to our speakers and moderators – some of Australia’s finest minds and most talented creatives.

Thank you, also, to our local community organisations such as the RSL, the Bowls Club, the Masonic Centre, the schools, the Sorrento Community Centre, the Presbyterian Church, and the Sorrento Museum whose friendship we cherish.

And a big thank you to our blue t-shirt volunteers who were welcoming and professional.
