The Barry Jones Oration by Julia Gillard - A 2025 Festival highlight
The annual Barry Jones Oration was held on opening night of this year’s Festival and we were proud and humbled to welcome The Honourable Julia Gillard AC, the 27thPrime Minister of Australia.
Introducing Ms Gillard to our audience, Sorrento Writers Festival Founding Director Corrie Perkin said: “During her parliamentary career, her time as a Shadow Minister, as deputy PM and during her prime ministership, we frequently heard about – and saw evidence of – Julia Gillard’s immense capacity for work, her clear-headedness , strategic thinking, compassion and dedication.
“Since leaving office, Julia has focused her time to advocacy, governance roles, and writing.”
