Patrick McCaughey
Patrick McCaughey studied at the University of Melbourne before becoming art critic at The Age in 1966. He was appointed professor of visual arts at Monash University in 1972 and director of the National Gallery of Victoria in 1981. He was later director of the Wadsworth Athenaeum in Hartford, Connecticut, and the Yale Center for British Art. He has published widely on Australian, American and European art.
