The Continental, Sorrento

The Continental, Sorrento’s iconic landmark since 1875, blends heritage charm with modern luxury. Now a premier lifestyle precinct, it offers curated experiences and top-tier event spaces on the Mornington Peninsula. 

The Sorrento Writers Festival will host premium events in The Continental’s Halcyon Hall and The Ballroom, both located on the first floor of the precinct.

Sorrento Portsea RSL

Established in 1919, Sorrento Portsea RSL is a community-focused, volunteer-run, not-for-profit club and has long tradition as a local hub for celebrations, commemorations and community support. It’s home to Tom Katz Sundays live music and Sorrento Thai Restaurant.  

The RSL is home to our Wednesday afternoon, pre-Festival events.

Ellen Grant Hall

A spacious, multi-purpose venue just steps from Sorrento’s main street and beaches. Featuring a functional kitchen and two breakout rooms, ideal for intimate sessions, workshops, and reflective gatherings. Use of the space aligns with the values of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria.

Sorrento Community Centre

A welcoming hub fostering connection, learning, and creativity. Outside of the Festival  Sorrento Community Centre hosts community-driven programs spanning education, wellbeing, and the arts making it an ideal space for festival conversations. 

The Sorrento Community Centre is our biggest festival venue in capacity and the Festival hosts a range of events across the weekend.

Sorrento Bowls Club

A local icon since 1934 and the oldest club on the Peninsula. Offering seasonal competitive pennant and social bowls and barefoot bowls year-round. Sorrento Bowls Club’s friendly and relaxed atmosphere is a favourite Festival venue for speakers and guests alike.  

Sorrento Bowls Club’s entrance is tucked away behind the main street if arriving on foot, but worth the journey, just allow a few extra minutes to arrive.

The Baths

Set on the Sorrento foreshore with stunning bay views, The Baths offers relaxed, all-day dining, making it ideal for special Festival gatherings.  

The Baths Sorrento is home to our sell-out Political Lunches.

Portsea Surf Life Saving Club

Uniquley set on the Portsea Back Beach cliffs, this stunning, architecturally designed venue offers a modern space for festival events with unforgettable views. 

PSLSC is accessible by car from Sorrento when planning your itineraries, and well worth the trip.
