Fletcher Jones is one of Australia’s great success stories. Born in 1895 (he died in 1977) Sir Fletcher’s life is both fascinating and emblematic of Australia’s twentieth-century progress – in social policy, changing world views, manufacturing, the city and country divide, the rise and fall of wool.

Fletcher Jones was a survivor of war,  of poverty, illiteracy, destitution and bankruptcy. And throughout, he never lost his humour, his optimism or his deep regard for the people around him. Sorrento Writers Festival welcomes back Jock Serong, award-winning author and a great friend of the Festival, for a special “in conversation” about his new biography of Sir Fletcher Jones.
