Deirdre Coleman

Deirdre Coleman is Redmond Barry Distinguished Professor and Co-Director of the Faculty of Arts Research Unit, Enlightenment, Romanticism, Contemporary Culture, at the University of Melbourne. She completed her BPhil and DPhil at Oxford, focusing on Victorian literature and Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and has taught at Wollongong, Adelaide, and Sydney. Her research spans 18th- and 19th-century literature, cultural history, abolitionism, and colonialism. Her latest book is Henry Smeathman, the Flycatcher (2018).
