In Conversation
Geoffrey Robertson

Sorrento Writers Festival, Gasworks and Avenue Bookstore are delighted to present distinguished trial counsel and human rights advocate Geoffrey Robertson AO, KC, in conversation about his new book World of War Crimes.

Geoffrey’s book, which has been described as an "authoritative and deeply humane work” is both a rallying defence of international law and a resounding condemnation of its past and present failings. As Geoffrey reveals, too often in war zones such as Ukraine, Gaza and Sudan, the evidence proves guilt beyond reasonable doubt that war crimes have been committed yet sadly - despite compelling evidence - there are few, if any, prosecutions.

As the book’s publisher Penguin says: "This is an authoritative and powerful study of the issues at play in an increasingly complex and violent world riven by conflict …"

Sorrento Writers Festival President and human rights lawyer Peter Inge AO and Festival Director and award-winning journalist Corrie Perkin will discuss with Geoffrey his research and his conclusions about what defines a war crime.

We hope you will join us for this important event.
