The Life Writing Workshop 2025
Playwright Hannie Rayson and historian, author and director Michael Cathcart will return to Sorrento in October to run another two-day life writing workshop.
This two-day dynamic workshop is for people who want to tell stories about their own lives, or the lives of other people. You will learn how to build your narrative form from real-life stories. Hannie and Michael will advise on research techniques, how to interview people, pitfalls and shortcuts, and how to produce a compelling book.

Gough Whitlam and The Australia He Imagined
Respected journalist and commentator for The Australian Troy Bramston has spent years writing the stories of Australia’s political leaders. His forthcoming biography of Gough Whitlam brings to the fore new information, new interviews and new ideas about the man described by Canberra Press Gallery doyen Laurie Oakes as ‘our most controversial prime minister’. Gough Whitlam: The Vista of the New arrives in bookstores on October 28. We are delighted that three days later, Troy will be joining us in Sorrento to discuss his new book with Sorrento Writers Festival Director Corrie Perkin.
